"I create shockingly attractive women that give a strong emotional message of empowerment and control. My subjects know what they don't want. They fight against stereotypes. They are wise in the ways of the world. They are 'Thinking Women Goddesses'. They are a mirror of myself.
The cigar symbolizes an exaggeration of statement.
I frame my subjects in captivating facial close-ups, blowing them up on large canvasses to create stopping-power, to have them visually arrest you. I exaggerate the size of the eyes and lips, to intensify the communication of my message.
Color is my morphine. I use warm acrylic hues to create an intimate atmosphere, yet starkly combine them with jet-black paint to emphasize the contrast and intensify the emotional power. The play with light is highly important, as it makes their faces lusciously real.
For me, a painting is a success when it talks to me in different ways, according to the mood I am in.
I rock and question tradition & rules when they seem to have outgrown the situation. Next, I create chaos and then express a new order, based on my strong values of integrity.
Brought up by a grandmother who taught me it is good to have a strong opinion of your own as a woman, I have a lot of respect for strong women. For me, balance between ‘male’ and ‘female’ powers in society is a recipe for growth, unbalance will almost inevitably lead to unhealthy extremes.
As such my paintings radiate female inner beauty and wisdom, with a punch of rebel and a touch of drama."
